Brian Got a New Job!

Brian Got a Job

I have some very exciting news to share this morning: after months of wondering what we would be up to when Brian’s current service commitment is over… we have our answer!!  I’ll cut right to the chase:

BRIAN GOT A NEW JOB!

Last week Brian was offered a job at Electric Boat, which is a division of General Dynamics that builds submarines.  EB has been at the top of Brian’s list for a long time, and it is a very natural next step for someone in his position…  Electric Boat also just happens to be right down the road from us, so we’ll be staying put!

He will be starting as a Senior Engineer, writing & evaluating test procedures for boat systems.  Basically?  It’ll be quality assurance, along with problem-solving when things don’t go right.  He will get to do some travel; going underway with subs occasionally and may also involve trips out to various submarine bases.  I am hoping he’ll get to go to the West Coast or Hawaii, and I’ll tag along!

A LITTLE BITTER SWEET

I am so proud of Brian and thankful that his hard work & abilities have landed him a job that he’ll enjoy & will put kibbles in Molly’s bowl.  But, continuing to live here in Connecticut wasn’t always at the top of my list…  It has taken me a long time to warm up to CT; I’ve been fairly homesick for our hometown these last couple of years.  But, slowly & steadily, I am starting to feel at peace here.  We’re getting more involved at our church, I’ve got a local part-time job, and now that spring/summer has rolled around, our Enchanted Forrest is feeling a little extra enchanted.

I think I’ll still be missing friends & family back “home,” but I am trusting that we are right where we’re supposed to be.  I am very thankful that God has provided a job (and it happened so quickly!), and that we can continue to grow in love for Christ & each other right where we are!

THE NEXT FEW WEEKS

Our plan is to take it a little bit easy these next few weeks until Brian starts his new job.  We may undertake a few household projects, but I think we’re going to hold off on our next big renovation project.  We’re looking forward to goofing off, doing a little traveling, and just enjoying a relaxed time knowing that there isn’t a whole lot we HAVE to do right now.

IF YOU’RE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

We’ve got a couple of guestrooms calling out for visitors!  If you want a tour of Brian’s current workplace, you’ll need to get here before August 1st, but there are plenty of other sights to see in our area if you can’t make it until later.  We’d love to have you!!
