Life at a Glance: May 2016

Whew.  Today is the first day in 3 weeks that I didn’t have any plans or commitments.  Needless to say, life has gotten pretty busy… and while I am certainly enjoying it, I can’t deny that a day off feels good.  I spent my time sleeping in a little bit, catching up on housework & Dahl House Designs work, and enjoying some gorgeous weather!

So, what have we been up to lately?  Here’s life at a glance:

BRIAN & THE JOB HUNT

We are counting down the days until Brian is done at his current job, and we are looking forward to civilian life.  The last few months we’ve thought/prayed/talked about what we’d like to do next, and it is exciting that the time is coming closer.  Brian has had a few job interviews, and we’ve got some more thinking/praying/talking to do, but we expect to have some exciting news to share with you all next week.

MY SUMMER JOB

These past few weeks I’ve spent a lot of time at the ice cream shop.  It is a really interesting place to work, and I enjoy most of it.  I am the oldest employee there; I am easily ten years older than the next oldest girl.  I love teenagers (heck, I went to school for youth ministry)… but this group of girls is CRAZY.  There is always drama, and I am just doing my best to stay out of it.  I have officially tried all the ice creams & all the toppings, but I will never exhaust all the possible combinations available.

Also.  My scooping arm is totally ripped.

A JOURNEY THROUGH MIDDLE EARTH

Since Brian & I have both been busy lately, we’ve tried to at least take some time to relax after dinner.  We started re-watching all of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit/Lord of the Rings movies (the Extended Editions).  We’ve made it through all 3 Hobbits, and finished the first half of Fellowship last night.  We’ve never watched all six movies back-to-back, and it’s fun (although I did work through the Battle of the Five Armies).

A CHUNKY MONKEY GOES FOR A BIKE RIDE

A couple of weeks ago we took Molly to the vet for her annual check-up, and I was a bit surprised when she hopped up on the scale… seems our girl got a little tubby over the winter!  The vet said she isn’t overweight, but she recommended she lose a pound or two to get back to her normal weight.  So, Molly & I have been enjoying some bike rides/run-alongs together.  I love it, but not as much as Molly- she’s in heaven when she gets to trot along with me.

UPCOMING ADVENTURES

We are looking forward to the weeks ahead.  We’re planning a trip to Block Island to celebrate Brian’s 30th birthday (WOOOO!) and are cooking up a trip during the last two weeks of July.  Plans definitely include a stop to visit family in St. Louis, but may also include camping(!?!?) either somewhere here in New England or maybe the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.  Suggestions welcome!!

What are your summer plans?  Any adventures up your sleeve?
